Will Russia invade Ukraine in 2022?

via Military Update
Will Russia invade Ukraine in 2022? As tensions mount between Washington and Moscow over a potential Russian invasion of Ukraine, U.S. intelligence has found the Kremlin is planning a multi-front offensive as soon as early next year involving up to 175,000 troops, according to U.S. officials and an intelligence document obtained by The Washington Post. “The Russian plans call for a military offensive against Ukraine as soon as early 2022 with a scale of forces twice what we saw this past spring during Russia’s snap exercise near Ukraine’s borders,” said an administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information. “The plans involve extensive movement of 100 battalion tactical groups with an estimated 175,000 personnel, along with armor, artillery and equipment.” Watch the video for more: https://youtu.be/USOWDLXo9pw Make sure to share this video with your friends! This is The Most Dangerous China's Ballistic Missiles—Threat to America

via Military Update
This is The Most Dangerous China's Ballistic Missiles—Threat to America The DF-21D anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) has generated a tremendous amount of interest over the past several years. If it works, it poses a very serious threat to U.S. Navy (USN) carriers, as well as to the other advanced warships of the USN, of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force, and others. The USN is very concerned about the DF-21D, which is one reason it’s working so hard on ship-borne anti-ballistic missile (ABM) technology. The USN is also working on other countermeasures, including strikes on DF-21 launch sites at the onset of war (potentially delivered from nuclear cruise missile submarines (SSGNs), and electronic warfare. These Are The Weapons China Could Use to Crush Taiwan in a War Over the past decade, virtually every aspect of China’s military arsenal has grown more lethal. This improvement has necessarily affected the military balance with Taiwan. With tensions between China and the United States growing, Taiwan’s position has become even more precarious. President Xi Jinping has recently signaled a more hardline attitude on reunification with Taiwan, suggesting that it’s past time to re-evaluate the military balance between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of China. Here are five of the most menacing systems that China could use in the event of war with Taiwan. Armored Monsters: This Is Why No Nation Wants to Fight the UK's Challenger 2 Tank

via Military Update
Armored Monsters: This Is Why No Nation Wants to Fight the UK's Challenger 2 Tank The FV4034 Challenger 2, is the UK's Main Battle Tank and operates across the globe from exercises with allied countries to theatres of war like Iraq. However, particularly on social media, there seem to be lots of confusion as to what equipment a Challenger 2 actually has and how well it would allow it to compete against other, sometimes more modern, counterparts like the US M1 Abrams or the German Leopard 2A6/A7(+). Before we look at its performance stats, what really is a Challenger 2 and why does it exist? Challenger 2 is a third-generation MBT, the same generation as the Russian T-80 & T-90, German Leopard 2, and US M1 Abrams. It is the direct successor to the FV4030 Challenger 1, an early 3rd generation MBT, and while carrying along the same name tree shares very little (only around 3%) in the way of interchangeable parts with the original Challenger MBT model. Designing of the Challenger 2 began by Vickers Defence Systems (now BAE) as a private venture in 1986, by 1989 a deal was finalized for a demonstration vehicle, an order was placed by the MoD by 1991. Here's Why America (and the World) Still Fears Russia's Kirov Class Warship

via Military Update
Here's Why America (and the World) Still Fears Russia's Kirov Class Warship The Kirovs (Project 1144) originated as nuclear-powered antisubmarine cruisers, designed to either hunt American missile submarines or protect Soviet nuclear “bastions” from U.S. and British attack boats. At the time of their initial conception, the Soviets did not focus on anti-ship capabilities in their surface ships. However, improvements in missile technology, combined with the increasing threat posed by American surface vessels and especially American carriers, made it possible to imagine a ship that could combine surface, subsurface, and antisubmarine warfare capabilities. The ship that could fulfill all of these missions was immensely large by Cold War standards. Built around the P-700 Granit surface-to-surface missile system, the Kirovs could threaten Western carrier battle groups while also carrying out an anti-submarine role. Displacing twenty-six thousand tons, the Kirovs dwarfed previous Soviet surface ships. Indeed, the United States itself had not constructed surface warfare vessels of this size since World War II. Only aircraft carriers and large, flat-decked amphibs exceeded the Kirov’s in size. Watch the video for more: https://youtu.be/F-zahEUYd2Y Make sure to share this video with your friends! Our Top 10 analysis is based on the combined score of offensive weapons, stealthiness, and some other features. The main mission of this type of boat is to engage hostile submarines and ships. It must have good sonar in order to detect enemy submarines. Also, it is extremely important for these boats to approach enemy boats and warships undetected. After the engagement, it is even more important to leave the area undetected by hostile anti-submarine ships and maritime patrol aircraft. Some of the latest attack submarines can launch cruise missiles against ships and land targets. So stealthiness and armament are the main factors deciding which attack submarine is the best. This list only includes nuclear-powered attack submarines, that are currently in service around the world. Boats that are still being developed or are under construction are not present here. This Russian New Military Drone Terrify its Opponents The second flying prototype of Russia’s S-70 Okhotnik unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV) has emerged, and it features the long-awaited stealthier nozzle configuration, among many other refinements, that should maximize the low observability and combat effectiveness of the production version. While the redesigned Sukhoi drone has yet to fly and still has a long series of evaluations ahead of it, Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu has confidently predicted that test work could be completed sometime next year, paving the way for an order for the Russian Aerospace Forces, or VKS. In the past, the General Director of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation, Yury Slyusar, has described the Okhotnik, which means "hunter" in Russian, as an “attack heavy drone [sic] with unprecedented capabilities, having the largest combat flight range, the widest range of weapons [and] the broadest range of equipment.” Watch the video for more: https://youtu.be/MeG7Jaw0VwE Make sure to share this video with your friends! US Military Has Finally Revealed The Range Of Its New Hypersonic Weapon

via Military Update
US Military Has Finally Revealed The Range Of Its New Hypersonic Weapon The U.S. Army has finally provided an official range for its future Long Range Hypersonic Weapon, or LRHW. "The Long Range Hypersonic Weapon provides a capability at a distance greater than 2,775 km," an Army spokesperson said, according to Breaking Defense. This means that the LRHW can strike targets at least 1,725 miles away. For comparison, the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) short-range ballistic missile, the longest-range ground-based missile system currently in Army service, can only reach targets out to 300 kilometers, or close to 186 miles. The complete LRHW missile consists of a large rocket booster with an unpowered hypersonic boost-glide vehicle on top. The rocket is used to loft the conical boost-glide vehicle to a desired speed and altitude. The vehicle then detaches and comes zooming back down toward its target along an atmospheric flight trajectory at hypersonic velocity, defined as anything above Mach 5. These Are The Five Chinese Weapons Of War America Fears Most

via Military Update
These Are The Five Chinese Weapons Of War America Fears Most China recognizes the potential for conflict with the United States, however small, and is planning accordingly. China is pouring resources into weapons specifically designed to target American forces and limit their ability to operate near the Chinese mainland. These “anti-access, area-denial” (A2/AD) weapons have the potential to exclude American forces from China’s innermost defense zone: the so-called “First Island Chain” consisting of the Kuril Islands, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines and Borneo. The chances of a shooting war between China and the United States are remote, and neither is set on war with the other. However, the extent to which the interests contradict or compete with each other means war cannot be entirely ruled out. With that in mind, here are the five Chinese weapons the United States fears most. Watch the video for more: https://youtu.be/_9drvkYCHEs Make sure to share this video with your friends! Great Showdown: Russia's Battlecruiser Kirov vs. America's Zumwalt – Who Wins?

via Military Update
Great Showdown: Russia's Battlecruiser Kirov vs. America's Zumwalt – Who Wins? The recent decline in relations between Russia and the West has put ship-vs.-ship warfare back on the table. After more than a decade of supporting land wars in the Middle East and Central Asia, the U.S. Navy is reinvesting in the core mission of sinking ships. The U.S. Navy is expanding this capability but at the same time introducing a new class of ship, the guided missile destroyer USS Zumwalt, designed primarily to support land warfare. Meanwhile in Russia, Moscow is still trying to squeeze life out of its Kirov-class battlecruisers. The gigantic surface ships, all nearly thirty years old, have aging but still generally effective armament, and are still capable of carrying out their primary mission: attacking very large enemy ships, especially aircraft carriers. This America's New Advanced Radar Can Detect and Destroy Enemy Missile Threats As members of the U.S. Navy led Aegis Weapons System network of allied warships, both Japan and Canada are building upon existing ocean-based Aegis ballistic missile defense systems to expand intercept reach ever farther into space than is currently possible. The well-known Aegis radar, now in use by a growing number of U.S. allied navies, involves an interesting mixture of advanced software, fire control, networking systems and of course radar detection technology. There are a number of Aegis-integrated Navies, including the Spanish Navy, Royal Norwegian Navy, Canada, Republic of Korea Navy and Royal Australian Navy, among others. Building upon Aegis progress, Lockheed Martin has been working on integrating a new SPY-7 ship based radar variant engineered to greatly increase range, sensitivity and detection capability beyond existing systems. It is a maritime variant of the evolving Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) missile defense system being prepared for operational readiness later this year. Naval Showdown: Here's Why America Should Build a High-Tech Battleship Now!

via Military Update
Naval Showdown: Here's Why America Should Build a High-Tech Battleship Now! This "battleship of the future" could solve the challenge posed by China's emerging anti-access / area denial (A2/AD) strategy for excluding the United States from the western Pacific. China is rapidly expanding and improving its networks of onshore, offshore, undersea, and space-based sensors to the extent that it will soon be able to see everything that moves between the Chinese mainland and the first island chain formed by Japan, Okinawa, Taiwan, and the Philippines. And improvements in precision weaponry will increasingly mean that China will be able to hit anything it can see. America's response has been a shifting set of tactical plans successively labeled as AirSea Battle, JAM-GC and Third Offset. What these plans all have in common is the idea that the best defense is a good offense: instead of defending against Chinese A2/AD attacks, they propose that the United States strike first to take out the command-and-control networks that tie China's sensors to its precision munitions. The problem is that this implies the immediate escalation of any A2/AD scenario into a full-scale war. Here's Why Russian Destroyer is the Biggest Threat to American Submarines

via Military Update
Here's Why Russian Destroyer is the Biggest Threat to American Submarines Russian ships are often the butt of a joke. The aircraft carrier Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Kuznetsov, for instance, has had a long history of problems. That said, during the Cold War, we didn’t know what we know now about these Soviet designs. Mysterious submarines lurked beneath the water and, to many Americans, these ships were quite scary. One such vessel was the Soviet Navy-designed counter to American and British nuclear-powered submarines, the Udaloy-class destroyer. The need for this ship was evident – the Soviets had to protect Kiev-class carriers and Kirov-class battlecruisers from subs, which have sunk capital ships in the past. Don’t take my word for it; take a look at what happened to the JDS Kongo or the IJN Shinano. To avoid such disasters, the Soviets designed a ship that could find and kill NATO subs. The Udaloy-class destroyer was born. This vessel had some capabilities that could give an American sub commander nightmares. It weighed in at 6,700 tons, had a top speed of 29 knots, and it carried two Kamov Ka-27 “Helix” anti-submarine helicopters, according to GlobalSecurity.org. 5 Great Military Aircraft that Never Made it to Service

via Military Update
5 Great Military Aircraft that Never Made it to Service Sometimes aircraft are just a bit too awesome for service in the US military. There are many mundane reasons why some outwardly amazing planes don’t end up in service. Sometimes, the excuses are simple: Budgets got cut. Other times, they’re more complicated. Maintenance and logistics costs aren’t the sexiest elements of military acquisition, but they’re just as important as tactical performance. Mundane budget trade-offs aside, these five aircraft had real shots at becoming front-line workhorses but for a little bad luck. They might have made big differences in the military’s table of equipment had they been allowed to continue on. This Swedish Jet Was More Advanced Than You'd Think

via Military Update
This Swedish Jet Was More Advanced Than You'd Think During the Cold War, Sweden developed a multitude of advanced aircraft. Swedish aircraft served not only in the Swedish Air Force, but also in the Austrian, Danish, and Finnish Air Forces. One of the most advanced designs in its time was the AJ 37 and AJS 37 “Viggen” strike aircraft. The Swedish Saab JA 37 "Viggen" ("Thunderbolt") was yet another milestone aircraft design for the Scandinavian nation strictly adhering to a policy of indigenous design, development, and production of its various frontline military weapons. The aircraft - a true multirole fighter for its time- was designed from the outset to be as "battlefield friendly" as possible, capable of utilizing the Swedish network of highways as emergency runways, and could further be serviced (refueled and rearmed) by a team of just seven - even with six being conscript-level personnel. To this battlefield survivability was added an advanced onboard computer that negated the need for a second crewman on board to act as a dedicated radar operator, allowing the internal volume to be used on fuel and avionics. Rounding out the requirements was a folding vertical tail fin which decreased the aircraft's side profile and allowed it to be housed in the various underground hangars positioned strategically about the country. If the Soviet Union was to invade, Sweden would have been ready. Watch the video for more: https://youtu.be/veDuG4CqPy0 Make sure to share this video with your friends! Five Reasons The Navy's D5 Missile Is The Most Powerful Weapon of The US Military

via Military Update
Five Reasons The Navy's D5 Missile Is The Most Powerful Weapon of The US Military The D5 is crucial to making deterrence credible, because unlike the land-based missiles and manned bombers in America’s nuclear “triad,” it is deployed on submarines beneath the seas. The 14 submarines and 280 D5 missiles comprising the sea-based deterrent can’t be tracked or targeted when they are operating, and thus there is no way an attacker could escape horrible retribution. It is the certainty of unacceptable retaliation that is America’s main insurance against nuclear war. The D5 missile and its antecedents in the Navy’s Fleet Ballistic Missile program are central to this strategic calculus. In fact, they have been more critical to American survival than any other type of weapon in the national arsenal. The reason you probably don’t know this is that the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs office operates so smoothly there is never any bad news to report. It is arguably the most reliable, efficient operation in the Pentagon’s entire acquisition apparatus. As a result, the D5 is unknown to most people. Even those who follow military affairs closely seldom hear much about D5. So what I’d like to do here is briefly describe five reasons why the D5 missile is the most important weapon you’ve (probably) never heard of. I should note up front that Lockheed Martin, prime contractor for the D5, is a contributor to my think tank and a consulting client–as are several of its competitors. These Are The World's Five Most Lethal Tanks In Use Today

via Military Update
Armored Killers: The Top Five Most Lethal Tanks In Use Today The world of the tank—an armored fighting vehicle equipped with a large main gun, tracks, and whose mission is to conduct mechanized warfare on the modern battlefield—has stagnated. Look around at the tank fleets of all the major powers and most so-called main battle tanks have been in service since the 1990s—or even the 1980s. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the shift to terrorism have placed tank forces on the back burner—or, in the case of the Netherlands, eliminated them entirely. Most tanks—at least those in the arsenals of the West—are pretty much the same in terms of overall capability. Many countries, such as South Korea, have used the slowdown to catch up to the status quo. The top five most lethal tanks today aren’t necessarily the newest or most expensive. Each does one thing particularly well to stand out from the crowd, making it an extremely dangerous opponent on the battlefield. 17 Crazy Russian Military Inventions That You Never Thought Existed

via Military Update
17 Crazy Russian Military Inventions That You Never Thought Existed Russian military inventions tend toward the brutally practical: tanks, planes, and guns that are cheap and easy to produce. Indeed, in WWII, the Soviet Union overwhelmed Germany with endless waves of T-34 tanks, fighter planes, and infantry armed with cheap submachine guns. Russia was very inventive and unorthodox in its creation of wartime vehicles and weapons. Designing a tank or plane that can be reproduced tens of thousands of times takes experimentation and a willingness to embrace unconventional concepts. Combine this with the traditional tendency of Russian engineers to come up with unique ideas and worry about how to mass-produce them later, and you have a climate ripe for unique weapons. So in the 20th century, Russia led the way in designing original, unwieldy, and truly outside-the-box tanks, planes, weapons, and ships. Their designers liked putting wings on things, leading to inventions like flying tanks, flying subs, flying aircraft carriers, and even ships with wings. Many of these ideas never got past the blueprint stage, though a few saw action in WWII. The Russians were determined, so no matter how unusual something was, if it worked, they used it. Yet, over time, many proved to be unsuccessful and ended up being ultimately forgotten. Here are the 17 Insane Russian Military Inventions. The US aircraft carriers are over 1,000 feet long and most of them are as tall as multi-story buildings, having 25 decks. Many believe that the huge size of the carrier makes them vulnerable to attacks. 2030 Naval Power: These Countries Will Soon Have the Most Powerful Navies on the Planet

2030 Naval Power: These Countries Will Soon Have the Most Powerful Navies on the Planet The most powerful navies in 2030 will be a reflection of the broader state of the world. Some countries are invested in preserving the current international order and see naval power as a means to maintain it. Other emerging countries are building navies commensurate with their newfound sense of status, often with an eye towards challenging that order. The eastward shift in naval power will continue in 2030, a product of both declining defense budgets in Europe and growing economies in Asia. While the most powerful navies of the Cold War were concentrated largely in Europe, by 2030 both China and India will be on the list, with Japan and South Korea as runners-up also fielding large, modern naval forces. The U.S. Doesn't Need More Nuclear Weapons to Counter China's New Missile Silos

via Military Update
The U.S. Doesn't Need More Nuclear Weapons to Counter China's New Missile Silos The discovery of what appear to be hundreds of new missile silos under construction in China has inspired arguments that imply the United States needs more nuclear weapons. Matthew Kroenig, a Defense Department adviser during the Trump administration, suggested in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed that “the Pentagon should study whether it can meet its deterrence requirements with existing stockpile numbers” in case “an increase…is necessary.” Senior U.S. military officials have also sounded the alarm. “We are witnessing a strategic breakout by China,” said Adm. Charles Richard, who oversees America's nuclear arsenal as commander of U.S. Strategic Command. Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall III echoed that concern, saying, “If they continue down the path that they seem to be on—to substantially increase their ICBM force—they will have a de facto first-strike capability.” He added, “I'm not sure they fully appreciate the risks that they're adding to the entire global nuclear equation.” Watch the video for more: https://youtu.be/cvqqCQ4uw1g Make sure to share this video with your friends! Here's Why The Russian Navy Still Makes All Enemies Sweat

via Military Update
Here's Why The Russian Navy Still Makes All Enemies Sweat Today, the Russian Navy operates about 360 vessels of all types. Big guided-missile cruisers and destroyers have been largely replaced by smaller warships, such as corvettes and frigates. Corvettes like those of the Karakurt and Stereguschiy classes are meant to support larger guided-missile frigates, namely the Admiral Gorshkov-class and Admiral Grigorovich-class. Many of these ships are smaller in size and armament than their NATO counterparts, but new technology and weaponry, especially the Kalibr cruise missile, which was introduced in 2015, give them an edge. These 5 Killer Missiles Could Sink Any Navy Warship!

via Military Update
These 5 Killer Missiles Could Sink Any Navy Warship! After decades of rapid innovation, the end of the Cold War and the subsequent Global War on Terror all but halted anti-ship missile development in the West. A focus on land operations in the Middle East and Central Asia sent Western navies struggling for relevance. As a result, navies adopted an emphasis towards supporting land forces and operating in the littoral zone. For the most part, ship to ship warfare was reduced to a 9,000-ton destroyer confronting a 2-ton pirate skiff. As rising tensions with China and Russia make clear: ship-to-ship naval warfare is back. And with it, the need to reach out and sink enemy ships. A new generation of anti-ship missiles (ASMs) are on the horizon. Stealthy, supersonic and autonomous, these missiles are adept at evading defenses and hunting individual ships. Let’s look at some of the more interesting ASMs, both deployed and in development. 15 Most Powerful & Dangerous Weapons in the World

via Military Update
15 Most Powerful & Dangerous Weapons in the World Weapons have changed and progressed throughout history. The first forms of weapons believed to have been used by man for hunting or self-defense were unshaped stones and wooden spears. Due to a number of shortcomings, short-range and inaccuracy, over time man came up with the idea to sharpen the stone and thus make it more dangerous. That is how we went from unformed stone and sticks to machine guns, Kalashnikovs, countless pistols and rifles, bombs, grenades, mines, mortars, etc. By exploring which are the most dangerous weapons of mass destruction, which are the largest nuclear bombs ever made and what is their range and lethality, which chemical weapons are the most dangerous, which weapons proved to be fatal in world wars, and then were advanced with today’s technology and science. T-90 Tank: The Russian Army's Deadliest Tank!

via Military Update
T-90 Tank: The Russian Army's Deadliest Tank! While the T-14 Armata might be Russia’s latest and greatest tank, it still is not ready for service. In order to bolster the capabilities of their more conventional tank fleet while the Armata is being prepared, Russia continues to modernize its current “top-tier” tanks, such as the T-90. Recently forty T-90Ms, the latest variant of the T-90, were reported to be ready for delivery in the near future to combat units. Similar to the M1A2 SEP v3, this is an upgrade kit that builds upon and improves the capabilities of the tank. It is unknown at this time whether the T-90Ms being delivered are kits being retrofitted to T-90s or T-90As. But how do these two souped-up tanks compare? Unlike earlier generations of Russian tanks, the T-90M has practically every feature that modern Western tanks enjoy. While earlier tanks sometimes lacked an independent commander thermal sight, instead only having independent commander day/night sights, the T-90M mounts the PK-PAN independent commander sight. The gunner’s sight is also thermal, the now-standard Sosna-U module. Both of these sights appear to still use the French Catherine thermal matrices, there is no indication that the Russian Irbis-K thermal modules have been implemented in the T-90M as it will be procured. These two sights are linked, with the tank’s information-management system able to pass a target designated by the commander directly to the gunner. Russian sources state that this is the first time such a feature has been implemented on a domestic tank. However, this has been a standard feature of Western tanks for some time. Here's Why Japanese Military Hard to Defeat

via Military Update
Here's Why Japanese Military Hard to Defeat Since the end of the Cold War, Japan’s security structure has been largely unchanged. The Defense Agency was uplifted to full ministerial status, and a layered missile defense was erected to counter North Korean ballistic missiles, but by and large the posture and composition of Japan’s Self Defense Forces was preserved. Caught flat footed by Chinese assertiveness in the East China Sea and Russian military flights near its borders, the government of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has implemented a raft of security improvements, from secrecy laws to the creation of a national security council modeled off the one that serves the U.S. President. An anemic economy has kept Japan’s defense spending flat or falling for two decades. According to a study by the Mizuho Bank, the Ministry of Defense’s acquisition budget fell 38 percent between 1990 and 2013. The number is roughly proportional to the amount of GDP the Japanese economy has lost during the same period. If Japan’s self-defense forces are to properly counter modern threats, they will need the right tools to do the job. Here are five weapons that Japan needs immediately. How Powerful is Russia's Military?

via Military Update
How Powerful is Russia's Military? Putin has clearly restored the effectiveness of Russia’s conventional armed forces (or of most of them), maintained and is modernizing the only nuclear arsenal in the world that is on a par with that of the US, and has reasserted Russia’s status as a major power, through carefully chosen military interventions and actions. Regarding the Russian armed forces, these are today organized into three services and two major independent commands or branches. The services are the Ground Forces, the Aerospace Forces (not Air Forces), and the Navy. The two independent commands are the Strategic Rocket Forces and the Airborne Forces (often referred to in English as the VDV, from the Latinised version by their Cyrillic abbreviation). 5 Incredible Weapons Programs That Only America Has

5 Incredible Weapons Programs That Only America Has Despite all the disruptions of 2021, Army modernization officials have tested new, longer-range and more precise infantry weapon systems. They also announced efforts that could lead to future machine guns, precision grenade launchers and possibly even hand-held directed energy weapons. Soldier lethality is a key Army modernization priority, one that has gained momentum since the service unveiled a strategy in 2017 to equip combat units with a new generation of air and ground combat systems. In the short term, the Army wants to field new squad-level weapons to close-combat units and a set of high-tech goggles that projects a sight reticle in front of soldiers' eyes. The service announced long-term efforts to develop new belt-fed, crew-served weapons, as well as to begin thinking about what infantry weapons will look like decades from now. This Is Why No Nation Wants to Fight the Leopard 2 Tank

via Military Update
This Is Why No Nation Wants to Fight the Leopard 2 Tank The Leopard 2 is one of the world’s most common main battle tanks, used by militaries on four continents. As such, the market for upgrades that bring the older versions up to the latest standards of protection and lethality is large. The primary player here is Krauss-Maffei Wegman, the original designer of the Leopard 2, who markets a variety of kits and new versions of the Leopard 2. Before delving into the details of the update kits, it’s important to realize what standard the majority of the world’s Leopards are at. The majority of Leopard 2s operated worldwide are of the Leopard 2A4 standard, which was made between 1985 and 1992. The Leopard 2A4 has the characteristic flat turret front, an all-digital fire-control system, an L44 gun, a hydraulic turret drive, and a thermal gunner’s sight. They do not have an independent thermal commander's sight, advanced guns, or add-on armor. Watch the video for more: https://youtu.be/plig-9dBb3Q Make sure to share this video with your friends! The True Reason Why Russia Has Never Become an Aircraft Carrier Superpower

via Military Update
The True Reason Why Russia Has Never Become an Aircraft Carrier Superpower The Soviet Union was one of the largest, most industrial proficient countries the world has ever seen. Yet for all of its engineering talent and manufacturing capacity, during the 74 years the USSR existed it never fielded a true real aircraft carrier. The country had several plans to build them, however, and was working on a true carrier, the Ulyanovsk, at the end of the Cold War. After the Communists' victory in 1917, science and engineering were pushed to the forefront in an attempt to modernize Russia and the other Soviet republics. The military was no exception, and poured resources into then-advanced technologies such as tanks, airborne forces, and ground and aerial rockets.
